Office Misfits - Meet The Cast

Kirby

Species: Human
Position: Marketing / Graphic & Web Design

Kirby & B.J. were close friends before they ended up both working at TomatoTV. With Kirby’s interest in comics, animation and especially movies and TV he’s the perfect media geek to drag TomatoTV kicking and screaming into the current marketing and media trends. Between B.J. and himself, he is far from the straight man of the pair, but generally the one living on this side of reality.

BJ

Species: Platypus
Position: Marketing / Graphic Design & Copy Writing

B.J. along with Kirby landed their first job out of college at TomatoTV. Together they are the marketing department. B.J. may confused on focus, timelines, deadlines, women, most rules, and planning but his long friendship with Kirby as well as his free form personality does generate good ideas, as long as they’re tempered with reality. He doesn’t have enough focus to be a devotee of much beyond what’s beyond his bill, though that usually mean’s he’s up for whatever fun Kirby’s got in mind.

Jessi

Species: Human
Position: I.T. & anything with a circuit board

Jessi is the stations all around I.T. and computer expert. She’s been at the station a bit longer than Kirby or B.J. so the addition of staff not old enough to be an aunt or uncle was a welcome concept. Especially welcoming when she found a fellow geek in Kirby and in that finally someone she can actually relate too. While the “girl” part of her does assert itself from time to time, it’s usually held at bay by the geek and the tomboy parts of her.

Ozzy

Species: Penguin
Position: N/A

Ozzy is a kid from a local school that first came to TomatoTV to research a project then stayed for the fun. He’s not part of the staff, and as such is the only one that can really truly see the fun of what the station represents. He’s full of the hope and energy of youth that maturity and life tends to try to smite out of adults. For some at the station that’s cute, for others it’s annoying. As he’s on mouth level with Mortelle’s plant he’s the only one that it tries to eat. He’s usually around so keep an eye where you’re stepping.

Mortelle Terror

Species: Human
Position: Sales

Mortelle Terror is the stations sales department. She’s an enigma in that she’s the cheeriest of the staff while also the one with the darkest sense of humor, if it is humor. It’s hard to tell as her family, that’s always talked about but never seen, seems to march to it’s own dark macabre beat: Vacations in swamps, birthday parties in the family graveyard, life not staring until “after twilight” and Victorian architecture seem to be the norm… for her. Everything from her homemade bagged lunch to her plant are something to make sure you keep an eye on when your back is turned.

Victor

Species: Dodo
Position: If you can figure it out, let everyone else know

Victor is the probably the last Dodo on the planet and such he’s seen a lot of history. Gruff but not grumpy or grouchy, he likes the station though how much he likes the staff is uncertain mostly because he’s reserved in what he says, or rather doesn’t. He’s had a fascination with technology and gadgets since steam engines that continued into the advent of radio then television, though his interest and grasp seem to have lost each other since “those computer machines”. It’s this fascination that keeps Kirby and Jessi on his good side, even if teaching him does take time out of their workday. What he does at the station is unclear whether he is owner on some level or retired GM or some former similar high position. The only clear thing is that he’s yields a lot of authority and stays around because retirement is boring.

Vicky

Species: Human
Position: Secretary

Vicky is officially the secretary, but unofficially she’s more like something between office manager and the boss’ lapdog. She’s THAT person in the office where that rare combination of an amoral boss needing a set of eyes paring with someone who doesn’t officially the have authority that they want to abuse. The office, outside her family, is her life. A fact that makes make most of the rest of the staff, who has a life outside the office, like her or their work day a little be less each time she wants to make her self feel good by doing something where someone else usually ends up paying for it in some way.

Nicko

Species: Frilled Dragon
Position: C.F.O & Accountant

Nicko looks out for one lizard...himself. His main saving grace is that he’s incredibly transparent so you know what you are dealing with. With his position of CFO & accountant he’s also got the authority (real authority unlike Vicki) to say what he wants and just have you just have to deal with it. He’s not rude; he does though have no filter between the id and his mouth. He and Vicki don’t get along, as he’s the only one in the station that has the authority & job security to call her on what she is. Luckily he stays out of most peoples and critters way and only involves you if it will benefit him or the station as a whole.

The Boss

Species: Human (theoretically)
Position: GM

If he has a name, no one likes him enough to wonder what it is. The general question isn’t whether how small his heart is, but whether he has one at all. Other than Vicki, Nicko and Victor he shows respect to no one and if he even saw that staff as commodities then at least he’d think they would have some value. The only good thing about his administrative style is that he’s too self absorbed to be a micro manager and would rather spend time doing things for himself. Vicki is the only one in the building that seems to like him. With Victor’s naturally reserved demeanor it’s unclear what he thinks of him.
